Crystal (Lighting) was formed in November 1999 with help from grants from the Princes' Youth Business Trust. The owner, Tony Barnes, has been involved in lighting since the early 80's from controlling the lights for school productions, to deciding whether extra lighting would be required and finding suppliers for such equipment. Through his education at Swansea University he continued his interest by crewing for the Student Union Entertainment Dept. working with bands such as the Lightning Seeds and D.J.'s that have included Danny Rampling and Judge Jules. After graduating from University he then set about starting his own company, turning his hobby into a career. This started with the help of Corina Edwards from Enterprise Link part of the University Careers Dept. Corina Edwards was able to provide information about how to apply for grants, and suggested Business Connect Wales for additional help and training.
